Learn sign language on the road
12 August 2008
We are scratching our head to come up with how to keep our baby traveler occupied on the road. Maybe we should bring just two more, no, five more pieces of toy. Or we can stick yet another cartoon in the DVD player to amuse them.
Why don't we do something educational when we are trying to make time pass?
Two Little Hands Productions is the producer of the public television series - Signing Time. It teaches American Sign Language (ASL).
They teach babies, preschoolers, and grade schoolers ASL through music. I believe they create their own music, their animation is pretty charming, and in the video there are dozens of signing children to demonstrate the signs.
I found out this series has won more than 8 national awards - including a Telly Award, a Notable award from the American Library Association, the Dove Foundation Seal of Approval, and All Star Ratings from Kids First, to name a few. They have a full line of DVD, VHS, music CD, books, flashcards and Learning CD products that you can choose from. You can simply bring one of their books on the plane with you, or a DVD or CD if you will bring along a player.
